Bengali Hindus celebrate Durga Puja every year that signifies the arrival of the divine mother to earth. The event symbolizes the reconciliation of the omnipotent power of lord to overcome all evil.
In 2017 we are planning to organize two events; Durga Puja, and Shyama Puja. Our first event will be the celebration of Durga Puja to be held on September 26 – 30, 2017. The Shyama Puja will be held on October 18th, 2017.
We have already made significant progress in preparation for the event. The idols of the deities and all the offerings required for the Puja have been ordered and the shipment is now in transit. We have completed a name search for the organization through Service Alberta. A website is currently under construction with a domain name and email account already set up. A community hall has been rented for the events planned for this year. A detail itinerary of the events will be posted soon.
We aim to provide a common platform for all to observe the Puja rituals according to the Hindu scriptures and the Bengali Hindu calendar. It is our duty to protect the heritage and pass it onto our future generations. Join us if you believe in our philosophy as we are currently recruiting volunteers.
